Ornella Fieres
Ornella Fieres (b. 1984) is a German media artist. She studied Visual Communication and Theory of Perception at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach, Australian Media and Art at Macquarie University in Sydney, and completed a postgraduate programme in Media Studies at HfG Offenbach.
Fieres’ work offers a view of yesterday’s world through the algorithms of today. Working with historical photographs, films, and documents, she brings archival material into the present through manipulated computational processes and artificial intelligence (AI). In doing so, she explores how memory and perception are reinterpreted in the digital age.
Her multimedia installations have been shown internationally, including at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Goethe-Institut Toronto, Literaturhaus Berlin, NurtureArt Gallery in New York, Kunstverein Speyer, and Fotografie Forum Frankfurt. She has also given talks at institutions including Volksbühne Berlin, Haus am Lützowplatz Berlin, Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach, and New Lab in New York, where she worked as part of a research fellowship.

Sie studierte Visuelle Kommunikation und Theory of Perception an der Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach, Australian Media and Art an der Macquarie University in Sydney sowie im Rahmen eines Postgraduiertenstudiums Medienwissenschaften an der HfG Offenbach.
Fieres’ Arbeiten eröffnen einen Blick auf die Welt von gestern durch die Algorithmen von heute. Ausgehend von historischen Fotografien, Filmen und Dokumenten überführt sie Archivmaterial mithilfe manipulierter Rechenprozesse und künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) in die Gegenwart. Dabei untersucht sie, wie Erinnerung und Wahrnehmung im digitalen Zeitalter neu interpretiert werden.
